Thunder Martin was after wild horses. The big ex-mule skinner and a companion called Shorty were aided in the hunt by the Lone Ranger's friends Dan Reid and Tonto. They had built a rope corral at the bottom of the hill, and then separated to drive the unbroken animals into the v-shaped opening.
