In a camp, hidden in the hills outside of Pine Rock, the Lone Ranger waited for his Indian companion, Tonto, who had gone to town to have his horse, Scout, shod at the blacksmith's shop. As the afternoon wore on, the Lone Ranger, becoming restless, took his saddle and bridle, and walked toward his great, white stallion, Silver, deciding to ride towards town to meet Tonto and burn off a little energy. Suddenly, a gunshot rang out, and the Lone Ranger slumped to the ground, injured! A few minutes later, he stirred and using Silver for support, struggled to his feet and gingerly placed his hand upon the crimson line across his temple where the bullet had grazed him. He felt the mask on his face, but he didn't know why he was wearing it. In fact, he couldn't remember anything at all!
