A woman calls the sheriff in distress telling him he’d better go to the old house on the hill right away to old man Swain’s place. Finley Swain a victim of rheumatoid arthritis was found dead in his dilapidated old home seated in his wheelchair. An inquest was called and an autopsy ordered. He had not died from natural causes. The sheriff called for the help of the Texas Rangers and Jace Pearson was assigned.
