A heavy snowfall had started with early fall of darkness of winter in the Yukon. Sergeant Preston on the trail to Dawson City halted his team when he saw a cabin among the trees in hope of a bed for the night. As they neared the cabin a huge grey dog sprang from behind it and headed straight for the Mountie’s throat. King sprang at the same moment and the two dogs met in mid air and rolled in a sprawling heap at Preston’s feet…
