Dr Christian tells the tale of when he was a Dr in the army during world war two and of how a young soldier named Slim had wanted to run away from the army. After talking with Dr Christian the soldier felt more optimistic but then when he turned up wounded Dr Christian felt it was his entire fault that he had sent him to fight.
