Winter is coming to the little town of Dinsdale with its gay promise of ice-skates and snowmen, thanksgiving turkeys and fat Santa Claus’, games and dances and long cosy evenings by the fire. Yes, it looks as if there’ll be a jolly time for all except perhaps the little house at 38 Poplar Street. It’s a shabby little house the paint has long since begun to crack and peel and one of the yellow shutters hangs loose. Inside Lucy Curtis is seated at the dining table reconciling her bills.
