Charlie Pike ran the trading post in the heart of Indian country. It was a convenient place for pioneers heading for the south west territory, and most wagon trains stopped at Pike's Post. When Sam Jackson came to the region to take charge of Indian affairs, he called on Charlie Pike for firsthand information. Charlie's advice was that to stay on good terms with the Indians, keeping a good stock of canned food and supplies would be a good start. In fact, he'd be happy to sell him the trading post for a discount price... But Sam Jackson was pretty shrewd, and he knew that there had been talk of uprising from the Indians in the area. There were four tribes in the area, but right now two of the Chiefs were about to reach boiling point - as one was accused of stealing another's gold, and the other had kidnapped his son in retaliation...
