Irene Dunne plays the same part she does in the 1941 comedy romance film, the part of Nancy a small town girl who is on her way by train to New York when she meets Steven Dunkin a rich playboy and becomes infatuated by him. However he fails to call her or answer her calls to him. Later while working as a singing telegram and answer phone for a café she has to sing a birthday wish for Steve who is there with his fiancé. Nancy is very upset and is consoled by Steve’s younger brother Tommy whom she comes to marry and finally fall in love with.
