Yan and his family are living happily in their country of Poland. Before the Communists came that is... Overnight, it seemed that everything changed. Since their arrival, Yan and Roda's children, Michael and Marilka, have changed beyond all recognition. Jacob fears they are in danger of losing their souls, as they are being brainwashed by the communist party, and being forced to attend ZMP Youth Meetings. Soon, the children begin to betray their own family to adhere by the strict communist rules, until Yan feels he has no choice, but to plan their escape from Poland, to Sweden.
