True To Life is a comedy play about the world of radio. As the curtain rises we hear the start of a typical radio soap opera called Kitty Palmer. Monday to Friday a lot of people listen to Kitty Palmer only this time the sponsor listens too and he wants to know who writes that tripe! Linc Ferris and Frank Marvin are the script writers and they get paid a thousand dollars a piece each week. Linc agrees with the sponsor and tells Frank that they've lost the common touch as they don't mix with real people. Looking and feeling down and out Linc goes for a walk and ends up in a diner where he meets waitress Bonny Porter. When Linc doesn't have any cash and her boss won't take a check, Bonny buys Linc his meal and takes him home to her family offering him a place to stay while he finds a job. Linc finds himself agreeing and begins using her crazy interesting family in their scripts. He falls in love with Bonny and all is going well until she and the family find out that he's been featuring them on a radio show.

In the interval for you music lovers Dick Haymes sings a song from the musical Oklahoma, The Surrey With A Fringe On Top.
