Helen Crane calls the police convinced that someone had broken in to her house after she heard whistling. The police see no evidence of breaking and entering and nothing appears to be missing but Helen knows that someone has been in her house and it feels as though someone is living with her, which could be possible in the vast amount of rooms and closets upstairs in her rambling house.
