Indians of the Sioux nation were on the warpath! Scattered bands of painted savages spread over wide areas making war on white men wherever they were found. Even the people of the villages were at the mercy of the red marauders, shooting fire arrows at their structures. In one part of the country, a small band of the Sioux had been exceptionally brutal and ruthless, and the Lone Ranger and Tonto had been following this band for two days, before it seemed the Indians had separated. They were close to the Overland Trail, and raced to warn the pilgrims of the impending ambush.
