It was about ten minutes to nine on a pleasant winter morning in February 1954 when John Wilson approached the front door of the Granville Virginia Bank in which he worked. As he opened the door he heard footsteps behind him and suddenly had a gun in his back and was forced to open the vault. Within a few minutes the lone bandit raided the bank of $35,000.
