Tom Williams Wants To Enlist

Tom Williams wants to quit law school and join the navy. His father tells him that he has no right to quit law school and that if he does he’ll disown him. He tells him he’ll be more use to his country with a degree and some sense in his head. Tom goes to see the Mayor and asks him if he can talk to his father for him and make him let Tom go. The Mayor tries to explain to Tom that sometimes it is hard to let go of the one’s you love. Tom is adamant that he wants to enlist and storms out of the Mayor’s office. The Mayor has some thinking to do.
