The harbor of Hong Kong, crossroads of the east, the haven of ships from every corner of the world. Here at anchor rides the American steamship Maloa, her funnels gleaming red in the setting sun. Harbor masters scurrying madly around her graceful bow. For, within the hour, the Maloa sails for San Francisco, and home. In a luxurious cabin on the main deck a girl lies quietly on the sofa after fainting at her own farewell party.
