Dan and Tonto worked with feverish haste on the flat top of a Mesa. They gathered three piles of dry brush, then stacked green grass - pulled by the roots - conveniently near each pile. Green grass atop of blazing piles of brush means smoke - great columns of smoke! Three in number soon rose from the top of the Mesa, and the signal in smoke could be seen for miles in all directions - but it was significant to just one man. The Lone Ranger!
