It is late when Marshall Matt Dillon and Chester hear gunshots. The go to investigate and see two men riding off in to the distance. One man is down on the road but he doesn’t look shot and smells of liquor. Matt locks him up for the night to question him in the morning. Next day his father Mr Crandle turns up to take him home and swears to keep him away from Dodge and out of trouble as he has already lost two sons to violence.
