The story begins in the laundry of the white geese, where a Princess has been raised by Dame Paula since she was spirited away from the monarchy as a young child to protect the throne. Prince Franz, whilst travelling in disguise has fallen in love with the beautiful 'Sylvia', during his frequent visits to the laundry for his military shirts. After all of the complications are unravelled, and their true identities revealed, will Franz and Sylvia ever find their true love together?
