Diabetes is a rather rare disease, which I'm told that fairly early in this century was completely incurable. Ordinary diabetes is caused by a disorder of the pancreas which fails to secret insulin, a hormone which makes it possible for the body to utilize sugar, and therefore the unused sugar accumulates in the blood until the excess overflows into the urine and is exceted. The story tonight takes us back to 1922, when a man's fight for the life of his son proved to be the beginning of yet another victory.
