The scene: The small village of Woodford in Vermont. It's 9:00 o'clock in the evening, and the main street in the village is deserted. A car comes speeding through the village, and with the squeal of its brakes comes to a stop before the home of Dr. Samuel Stewart. A young woman, obviously distraught, gets out from behind the wheel of the car and hurries up the walk to the doctor's home...
