The people who pass by the trail and stare at the fearful little old man do not know the real reason Pierre is there. That once many years ago before he took a vow to do penance in the cave high above the sea, his prison in the open air he also lived down there on the little islet near the salt marshes with his wife and fished. Now only his niece goes to visit him every morning bringing him bread and talks to him but he is unable to answer her and talks to no one.
