As we look in on the little community today we find Lum and Doc Withers in the Jot em Down store and library. Lum is talking to Abner's wife, Elizabeth, on the telephone. Lum wants to reassure her that he will take care of all of Abner's affairs, and will take the delivery to the store today too. In the meantime, Doc Withers thinks he might have a cure for Abner's laryngitis. Cedric is delivering a stove for the new restaurant.
