Yesterday just as Lum was about to confess that he instigated the whole affair of Abner’s kidnapping so that in rescuing Abner he might make a hero of himself Abner stepped in and saved his old friend from almost certain ruination by declaring that Lum did rescue him in the face of tremendous odds. As a result Lum is now receiving great praise from his fellow townsmen for his bravery.
