The Lone Ranger's nephew, Dan, rode along the trail outside of Rockton toward the camp he shared in the hills with the masked man and Tonto. As he approached a branched trail, a heavyset, friendly-looking man riding a buckboard stopped at the junction of the trails and waited until Dan approached him, and then called out to ask for directions. The two men chatted for a few minutes and Dan asked him about the beautiful watch and fob he was carrying. What he didn't know, was that the man was carrying the mine's payroll to the bank at Rockton, and there was a bunch of outlaws waiting to intercept him. They of course, also relieved the poor man of his watch.
