It was a June morning on a quite residential street of a large city when the neighborhood was startled by the sound of a woman screaming. And so on that quiet morning was discovered the horrible murder of elderly spinster Miss Sara Pendleton a crime blazon in the newspapers as the crime without a clue for not one piece of evidence was found on the scene to indicate who had committed the terrible crime. When a young couple, John and Emily Reynolds were arrested it was generally predicted that they would be speedily acquitted when they came to trial.
