Star Spangled Mikado

Star Spangled Mikado

Broadcast: August 31, 1947
Added: Aug 18 2016

This program is devoted to a leading figure of World Wars I and II, General Douglas MacArthur. Some of the legionnaires looked to MacArthur as a great hero or great leader, and in some smoke-filled rooms there was even talk of MacArthur for President. Two foreign correspondents who served in Japan, Frank Kelly and Cornelius Ryan, are the authors of a book entitled Star Spangled Mikado - and it's General MacArthur who they are referring to. Any book about him is bound to stir up an argument, and that's precisely what we're looking forward to in today's show!
