Archie Goodwin, Nero Wolfe’s assistant is trying to convince Nero that they need to earn some money after Nero has just spent nearly $4000 on orchids, and informs him that he has some prospects waiting to see them. Miss Gloria Kent had inherited some money from her mother $10,000 but her father has spent it without her permission. Her father thought he was being clever buying a treasure map but Miss Kent has knowledge that her father has been swindled. She wants to get the money back without any scandal.
