Well Dr Lum has gotten himself into quite a bad spot. After he decided to make himself the town dentist, replacing Dr Snide and inserting a newspaper ad to that effect, he received a letter authorising him, as justice of the peace to arrest Samuel W Snide for practising dentistry without a license. Today we find Lum and Abner in the Jot 'em Down store and library in Pine Ridge. Abner is talking on the phone, trying to purchase all of the newspapers they can get their hands on so that the police don't find out.
