Marshall Matt Dillon has been out of Dodge for two weeks on the trail of a wanted man named Cliff Meadows. He left Chester in charge and when Bessie May arrives with her father Sedge Wilkert they think that Chester is the Marshal. When they discover that Chester is not the Marshall they seem pretty riled by it and Sedge says he’s going to get Chester back.
