Whilst in Singapore, Matt Gordon he meets and falls in love with Linda Grahame. They have only known one another for three weeks, but they want to be married. Right before the wedding, the Japanese attack and invade Singapore and Matt leaves Linda at the mission to stay safe, choosing to retrieve a fortune in smuggled pearls from his hotel room, but when he returns to the mission, it has been bombed. He cannot find Linda, and with a heavy heart, he assumes she has perished in the burning remains. Five years later he returns to Singapore to recover the smuggled pearls...
