Ned Peterson was doing fairly well with his claim but he had a loan with Jake Wilson who made him put his claim up as collateral. Ned's son Jim was more interested in trapping than mining and had trapped a live very valuable silver fox. If he could sell it he would have more than enough money to pay off his dad's loan but it would take him two weeks to reach a buyer and Ned's loan was due in one week.
