Lum has paid his $500 to Squire Skimp and their evening has been arranges down at the schoolhouse for the night when Prince Ali Koush will miraculously heal Lum’s fake broken leg. At least the townsfolk will think he’s healing the leg and Lum will be able to throw away his crutches and look his fellow citizens in the face again.
