Shop Around The Corner has been adapted for LUX Radio Theater from the Metro Goldwyn Meyer picture success and stars Don Ameche and Claudette Colbert. Cecile B. DeMille the producer quotes, “this play has an air of good will to it, a gay mood of laughter and romance that few motion pictures have matched. It’s a story of a little group of people who work together in a certain little shop around the corner, a kind of world in itself where there’s a share of good and bad luck for everyone.”

Miss Karen Smith and Mr Martin work together in a department store and are continually in competition and at odds with each other. Unbeknownst to each other though they are pen pals and have fallen in love. When the night comes for them to finally meet up Mr Martin seeing that it is Karen doesn't let on that he is her mystery pen pal. He does keep writing to her though  and Karen confides in Mr Martin about her secret pen pal lover to much hilarity. The story is set around the Christmas season and of course the happy ending makes it a wonderful, wonderful Christmas.
