On his way down to the pool house Pat Novak stopped by the laundry to pick up a couple of shirts. He handed over his ticket, 428 but was given back two shirts that he didn’t recognize as his own. The tickets had been mixed up and Novak’s shirts given to a guy named Earl Hayes. Novak decided to go to Hayes’ apartment to swap the shirts and was met by three tough guys keen to have the shirts but one of Hayes’ shirts was missing and Novak was in big trouble because of it.
