Rocky Jordan has a rude and bewildering awakening at four am in the morning by a man named Max Scarbo holding a gun to him in the dark. Scarbo was scum he was a hired assassin. He was hired by Amo Wellman who was released after spending 15 years in prison and Jordan was one of the witnesses who put him there. Wellman was paying Scarbo $5000 to kill Jordan and now Scarbo was offering Rocky Jordan his life for $10,000.
