Four men are sat in the back room of The Palace Café discussing a card game. One man, Joe Merrill, thinks the game was rigged and threatens to cause trouble, so one of others shoots him dead. A few minutes later Sgt. Preston enters, but by then everything has been set-up to make it look like a case of self defense. Can they fool Sgt. Preston or will he uncover the truth?
