Simon Templar receives a call from a lady called Shirley Gray from Littleton. She is about to request help from The Saint when a man enters the room and orders her to hang up. Her parting line was “I’ll have to go, Sammy has just turned up”. Upon further investigation Templar discovers that Shirley Gray is a singer and a member of her band, Terry Richards has been killed.
