It was their 5th wedding anniversary and Mr Barden gave his wife Mary an expensive bottle of perfume called Eau De Chanson, which he had bought from an exclusive little shop called Santines. She opened the bottle took one smell and died and the bottle was completely empty. Lamont Cranston recalled the number of mysterious deaths that had occurred among well-known perfume distributors during the past few months. The dealers had been reported to have died from heart attack but there was always an empty perfume bottle nearby.
