The Scarface Murder Case opened with the killing of George Foster. Foster’s wife who saw the murder positively identifies Norman James still at liberty as her husband’s killer but Vance and DA Markham are pretty certain that they saw James in a restaurant at the time of the murder. The killing of a petty racket strong-arm man proves no clue even though Philo Vance believed it might at first.
