Our story opens in the private office of F H Higgins, managing editor of the Daily Chronicle. Mr Higgins, known to his employees as 'Stone Heart Higgins', is pacing the floor angrily, chewing viciously on a cigar. In the chair close to the desk, sits the Chronicles' largest advertiser, Chadwick P Frisbee, owner of Frisbee's Department Stores, who is about to give Brooks the most almighty rollicking of his life....
