Sam knew that Patricia Pearce was trouble as soon as she walked into his office. Her husband was having an affair with another woman and they were staying at the Belvedere Hotel. She wants Sam to go and witness the adultery of her husband so that she has grounds for divorce. Sam doesn't take divorce cases so he passes the job onto Tiny, his acquaintance at the Belvedere, but unfortunately that's not the end of the matter.
