Standing at the open window of the cheap hotel room and looking out over the outline of lights in neon that was Kansas City after sundown Eve Benton wondered where she would get the money to pay her hotel bill when heard two men talking in thousands. Next she heard one of them murder the other and she watched the murderer flee the building. She hatches a plan to follow the man and cut her in on the deal.
