Bill Caldwell, a United States Marshal, was cleaning his guns in his hotel room when someone knocked on the door. As the door opened, Bill recognized Red Dawson - the owner of the border town's largest cafe. He was there to let Bill know that the worst outlaw in the borders had just entered the bank. Thinking that he may be orchestrating a hold-up, this would be Bill's first case! Bill and Red hurried toward the bank, where he soon found out that the men had been playing a practical joke on him! The old man coming from the bank was holding a sack of onions, not stolen money! That evening, the old fellow came and joined the Marshal at the cafe to chat. After gleaning the information he needed, the old timer headed to the Dawson cafe, where his stooped appearance suddenly straightened, as he reported back the plans for their next hold-up. He wasn't quite the harmless old fellow Bill had thought. The men had done a real number on him...
