This is the story of women who came to this country in search of freedom, and the part they have played in the making of our country, and the development of the American way of life. The story opens aboard a ship on October 21st 1939 which approaches New York harbour, filled with weary and injured passengers, many gaze happily at the Statue of Liberty.
