In a rough and ready frontier town like Slim Chance Texas culture had a way of getting pushed aside sometimes while gunmen, desperados and killers ran riot and lawlessness flourished in the streets. But civic-minded citizens like Miss Theodosia Pridikin were firm in their resolve to bring the finer things to the lone prairie. So in the opera house at Slim Chance events were taking place that would bring United States Marshall Wild Bill Hickok and his deputy Jingles to solve the red trunk riddle.
