Last time and Ichabod Mudd were forced to bail out from their dive bomber when a Jap suicide pilot flew into them and tore off their left wing. They reached temporary safety in the darkening waters below, but Mudd suffered a wrenched shoulder, and couldn't make very good progress toward the smoke shrouded island. In the meantime, Chuck and Joyce have been searching desperately for them, flying low over the ocean with their landing light, In the waters off the island however, the Captain Midnight and Mudd have been discovered by a Jap patrol boat, which has been machine gunning all Americans found in the water!
