In a crude long house, dark except for a leaping fire in the middle, a mighty Indian chieftain sits in splendor amongst his warriors, wives and children. Beyond the fire stands a prisoner, a white man wearing a doublet and high boots of the Virginia colonists. This is the story of the Indian chieftain's daughter Pocahontas, who not only saved the life of Captain John Smith by offering to give her own life too, but who helped the Virginia colony of Jamestown to survive its difficult early years.
