Phonograph Murders, The

Broadcast: 15th April 1947
Starring: Richard Kollmar
Added: Jun 13 2001
This story starts out with a package being delivered to a Mr. James Grant, who is not expecting a package. Mr. Grant seems leery, but the courier says, don't be afraid, it can't be a bomb, it's too skinny. They find a note attached to the package but the courier is in a hurry and asks him to read it later and just sign for the package. Mr. Grant signs for the package and the courier leaves. Mr. Grant opens the package to find a phonograph record and a note to play it once. The label says Tommy Way and the Orchestra. "This ought to be good," says Mr. Grant. But once the record is put on, a voice instructs Mr. Grant to sit in a red chair in the middle of the room, that this record will last only 2 minutes and 15 seconds, and during that time, Mr. Grant will die. He tries unsuccessfully to flee using the door or the window, but – well, let's not ruin the whole story!
