Simon Templar answer a call to a lady in distress 15 year old Miss Annie McIntyre. Peter the Great is their thoroughbred horse that they have had all his life. Vic rides the horse and wants to run him but Dad McIntyre doesn’t think Peter the Great is ready yet. Annie has strong feelings towards Vic but Vic, the jockey, is hanging out with a woman who is bad for him. When her father is discovered dead in the stable it looks as though he may have been killed by his horse but Annie doesn't believe that. She enters the horse in a race and trusts in Vic to give him an honest ride. They soon discover why Dad was releuctant to let Vic race Peter The Great.
