When Mrs Ransom goes in to Peavey’s chemist and casually enquires about Mrs Peavey she comes away believing that Mrs Peavey is ill and in need of an operation. When she tells Gildy he and the Jolly Boys hatch a plan to get Peavey enough money to pay for his wife’s operation.
